Coronavirus Prompts Closings, Late Payment Policy In Kingstowne

The Kingstowne Residential Owners Corporation announced changes related to the new coronavirus outbreak.

KINGSTOWNE, VA — The Kingstowne Residential Owners Corporation announced operational changes related to the new coronavirus, or COVID-19, outbreak.

The announcement from Jeanne McCarroll, president of the KROC Board of Trustees, details changes based on guidance the Fairfax County Health Department and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has communicated to the public.

KROC's business office, fitness centers and other common area amenities are closed until at least March 30. Community events and non-essential meetings are cancelled based on the CDC's recommendation to avoid gatherings of more than 10 people.

The homeowners association is planning for possible employee shortages temporarily if employees are ill or need to be at home. If that's the case, other staff continue to work and can be reached by phone or email.

Because some residents may experience financial uncertainty because of the COVID-19 situation, KROC will waive late fees on payments if residents provide documentation. Residents must notify KROC before missing a payment, provide a letter from their employer explaining that their pay has been affected, and pay within 30 days of their return to work.

"These actions are being taken to ensure the health and welfare of the residents of this community," reads the announcement. "We pledge to keep residents informed of all relevant developments and how they affect association operations."

The association urges Kingstowne residents to find public health information on COVID-19 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Fairfax County Health Department and World Health Organization.

More information about KROC services during the closure is available at www.kingstowne.org under the announcements page.
