Dirt Biker Leads Police On Chase In Springfield

A dirt bike driver was arrested after eluding police on a park trail in Springfield.

SPRINGFIELD, VA—Fairfax County Police had an unusual chase through a Springfield park Monday night.

Around 10:30 p.m., a police officer attempted to pull over a speeding dirt bike driver near Essex and Hanover Avenues. The driver refused to full over, and a chase resulted through a county park trail.

The officer lost sight of the driver at one point, but another officer came across the bike and continued the chase. The driver eventually ditched his bike and began to flee on foot. Jacob Wheeler, 18, of Falls Church was arrested and charged with felony speed to elude, and reckless driving.
