Driver Dies After Crashing Into Pole In Springfield
Police say the driver crashed into a parked car and light pole Thursday morning.

SPRINGFIELD, VAāA driver died early Thursday morning after crashing into a parked car and light pole in Springfield, police say.
Police responded to the crash in the 6200 block of Backlick Road near Commerce Street around 1:30 a.m. Investigations show the driver was heading north on Backlick Road when his car veered off the road. His Mercedes Benz van went into a parking lot and hit an unoccupied Toyota Camry and the pole.
The driver, a 46-year-old man from New York, was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. His identity is not being released until next of kin are notified.

Police do not believe speed or alcohol contributed to the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
