Drug, Theft Violations on the Rise in Franconia: Police Data
Overall Fairfax County had a 2 percent uptick in crime from 2015 to 2016.

FRANCONIA, VA — Fairfax County has released crime statistics for 2016 for the Franconia District and the rest of the county, and overall the county saw a 2 percent increase in crime in 2016 compared to the year before. Franconia saw significant increases in drug and theft violations.
The crime statistics page, which was released by the county on Wednesday, allows you to view overall crime stats and also narrow it down to police districts.
The Franconia District, which includes Kingstowne and Rose Hill, reported five homicides in 2016, compared to none in 2015. Kidnappings fell, but assaults rose from 976 to 1,016.

Crimes against property rose for Franconia from 3,797 to 4,219 in the district, and crimes against society jumped from 781 to 996 from 2015 to 2016. The main drivers, respectively, were a big increase in larceny/theft violations from 2,196 to 2,366, while drag/narcotic offenses went from 687 to 884.

“The mission of the Fairfax County Police Department is to prevent and fight crime through community engagement and information sharing, and it is this partnership that keeps Fairfax County the safest jurisdiction of its size in the United States," Fairfax County Police Chief Col. Edwin Roessler said in a statement.
