Early Voting For Kingstowne 2022 Primary Wraps Up This Week
As the June 21 primary election approaches, voters will choose a Democratic candidate for the 8th congressional district.

KINGSTOWNE, VA — Early voting for the June 21 8th congressional district Democratic primary will conclude Saturday in Kingstowne. This is the only 2022 primary race in Fairfax County.
Rep. Don Beyer is seeking a fifth term as the representative for the 8th congressional district, which includes the City of Alexandria, Arlington County, City of Falls Church and part of Fairfax County. The primary challenger is Victoria Virasingh, a former technology industry employee.
Because the district is largely blue, it is likely the winner of the Democratic primary will secure a win in the November general election. Republicans have already chosen Karina Lipsman, a refugee from Ukraine who became a U.S. citizen, as the candidate to face the Democratic primary winner in the general election.

After the latest redistricting process, the Kingstowne/Franconia area is split between the 8th and 11th congressional districts. Voters can check their congressional district in the Virginia Department of Elections portal to determine if they can vote in the primary. Any registered voter in the 8th congressional district can vote in the Democratic primary, as Virginia does not register voters by party. The deadline for voter registration or updating a voter's address for the June primary was May 31.
Voters who want to cast their ballot before Election Day must do so by 5 p.m. this upcoming Saturday. Early voting happens at the Franconia Governmental Center and other locations.
