Entrance Signs For Springfield Designed, Feedback Sought

Fairfax County is developing signs to raise visibility to Springfield. Take a look at the design concepts.

SPRINGFIELD, VA — Fairfax County has been developing potential entrance signs for Springfield and wants community feedback.

The signs will be installed in the town's central business district, aiming to bring visibility to Springfield as a destination for business and living. A study recommended that Springfield's business district would benefit from branding and a unified identity.

A new diamond logo for Springfield was developed last year. Officials are now considering several designs incorporating the logo. See the design concepts and provide feedback on this online survey by Aug. 15.

Possible locations for the signs could be Old Keene Mill Road near Springfield Plaza; Backlick Road near Brookfield Plaza; Franconia Road, near Springfield Town Center; and Frontier Drive near the Franconia-Springfield Parkway.

The branding effort is a partnership with the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce, Springfield Civic Association and Springfield Town Center. Leaders are working with graphic design and civil branding firm Merje on the designs. The county is funding design, construction and installation.
