The popular Cardboard Boat Regatta returns to Lake Accotink Park on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 2 p.m. Whether you’re racing or just watching, it’s always a thrill to see who will sink or float. Food vendors will sell popular treats such as corn dogs, lemonade, Italian ices, gyros, salad, submarine sandwiches, funnel cakes, and more. Cardboard Boat Regatta souvenir t-shirts will also be available for purchase until supplies run out.
Boats entered in the regatta will be on display starting at 10 a.m. Judges will survey the boats from noon to 1 p.m. and determine winners in six categories. Prizes will be presented to the category winners just before the start of the afternoon races.
