FCPS is conducting basal resource reviews for subjects across grade levels and subject areas. Basal resources are the books and materials the division purchases to create a common foundation for instruction across all schools while allowing teachers to make necessary adjustments to support every student’s unique learning needs. Basal resources support culturally responsive teaching and are a significant first step in the division’s commitment to Equitable Access to Literacy.

Because these reviews do not happen frequently, selected resources will be in classrooms for years and are a significant financial investment.

Stakeholder feedback collected during the review process is shared with the Basal Resource Adoption Committee and the School Board. Your voice is a direct and important part of the process.
