Fairfax Senior Home Murder: Suspect Identified
Police believe a family member killed a man at a Fairfax senior home for financial gain.

FAIRFAX, VAāNew investigations into an April senior home murder in Fairfax indicate a family member was the suspect.
On April 20, police responded to a report of the victim found dead in his apartment at Little River Glen Senior Center. According to police, there was apparent trauma on the upper body.
The victim's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, who ruled the death a homicide resulting from upper body trauma. He was identified as Cong Huu Nguyen, 77, of Fairfax.

Investigators identified his nephew, Phuong Thanh Nguyen, 53, as the murder suspect with a likely motive of financial gain. Police learned from the Department of Homeland Security he fled to Vietnam the day after the homicide. The suspect was later found dead there of an apparent suicide.
Following the murder, police canvassed the Vietnamese community for clues on a suspect and motive. Investigations concluded the suspect was someone the victim knew well and the only person involved.
