Single-Vehicle Crash Kills Driver In Franconia Area
Fairfax County Police say one driver was killed in the single-vehicle crash on Monday.

FRANCONIA, VA — A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash Monday in Franconia, according to Fairfax County Police.
The single-vehicle crash happened around 1:56 p.m. at Franconia Road and Guilford Drive. The driver of a 2015 Buick Encore was heading east on Franconia Road when the vehicle left the road and struck two utility poles. The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was taken to the hospital. She was pronounced dead and identified as Jeanette Shifflet, 62, of Alexandria.
Detectives continue to investigate the cause of the crash. Speed or alcohol are not believed to be factors.
