Fire Alarm Prompts Evacuation Friday at Springfield Town Center: Police

A spokeswoman for Fairfax County Police says it was only an alarm; there was no fire or other incident.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- A fire alarm prompted an evacuation of Springfield Town Center Friday afternoon, according to a spokeswoman for Fairfax County Police.

Photos posted on Twitter show people standing outside the shopping center Friday afternoon.

A spokeswoman for Fairfax County Police said that there was no fire or other incident at the shopping center. A spokeswoman for Fairfax County Fire and Rescue also said there was no incident Friday at the mall.

A call to the shopping center management office was not answered Friday afternoon.
