What: USA/Alexandria Birthday Celebration

Where: Oronoco Bay Park, 100 Madison St, Alexandria, VA

When: Saturday, July 9, 6 p.m. to 9:45 p.m., fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

This celebration marks Alexandria's 273rd birthday and the USA’s 246th birthday. A performance by the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra will be held along with cupcakes, local vendors, live music and fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. Pets and smoking are not permitted at the event. Aside from Oronoco Bay Park, fireworks viewing locations will include Center Canal Plaza; Rivergate Park, 2 Montgomery St.; Founders Park, 351 North Union St.; Waterfront Park, 1A Prince St.; Windmill Hill Park, 501 South Union St.; Fords Landing boardwalk, 99 Franklin St.; Jones Point Park, Jones Point Dr., and George Washington Masonic Temple, 101 Callahan Dr.


What: Independence Fireworks at Mount Vernon

Where: George Washington's Mount Vernon, 3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Hwy, Mt Vernon, VA

When: Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25, 6 p.m. to 9:3 p.m.

Enjoy fireworks and patriotic music at George Washington's estate. The mansion will be lit in red, white and blue during the event. Tickets for Saturday have already sold out. Ticket prices vary.


What: An American Celebration at Mount Vernon

Where: George Washington's Mount Vernon, 3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Hwy, Mt Vernon, VA

When: Monday, July 4, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., daytime fireworks at 1 p.m.

Visit Mount Vernon on Independence Day to meet George Washington, watch daytime fireworks, see a performance by the National Concert band, hear 18th century music in the upper garden, enjoy bread from an 18th century baking process and more. At 11 a.m., a naturalization ceremony will feature people around the world becoming U.S. citizens.


What: Workhouse Fireworks

Where: Workhouse Arts Center, 9518 Workhouse Way, Lorton, VA 22079

When: Saturday, July 2, 6 p.m.

This choreographed display of fireworks is the region's largest before July 4. The event will feature a performance of A Night of Wonder featuring Mark G. Meadows at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are required.
