Franconia Governmental Center Evacuated, No Hazard Found

One person was taken to the hospital after being exposed to an unknown product, but there was no further hazard in the building.

FRANCONIA, VA—The Franconia Governmental Center was evacuated Tuesday morning as crews investigated a potential hazardous materials incident. No hazard was found.

According to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue, a person was exposed to an unknown substance at the Franconia Police station, which also houses the government center. The person was taken to the hospital "in good condition."

The building evacuation was a precaution. The Hazardous Material Response Team entered the building and determined it was safe. The substance in question has been removed from the building.
