Franconia Hit-And-Run Crash Victim Seeks Information On Driver

A driver hit by a hit-and-run driver at S. Van Dorn Street and Franconia Road is looking for help to solve the case.

FRANCONIA-ROSE HILL, VA — A driver injured in an October hit-and-run crash in the Franconia and Rose Hill area is looking for help to identify the involved driver.

Erica Jacobs's vehicle was hit around 5:40 to 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7 at the S. Van Dorn Street and Franconia Road intersection. Jacobs was on southbound S. Van Dorn Street about to turn left onto Franconia Road. She recalls the hit-and-run driver leaving the Sunoco down the street at 5514 Franconia Road and driving erratically. The driver turned right onto South Dorn Street from Franconia Road, went over the median in the opposite direction and struck Jacobs's vehicle. The vehicle again went over the median and fled.

Three witnesses stayed with Jacobs, but no one was able to see the license plate information.

"The driver fled the scene and left me with extensive damage to my car," Jacobs wrote to Patch. "This has caused me with ongoing back pain, and numerous doctor bills."

Surveillance footage from the Sunoco was provided by police. The suspect vehicle is described as a dark Dodge Challenger with Maryland tags and rear brake light damage on the driver's side.
