Hayfield Cheerleading Squad Takes 1st Place in Competition

Squad ranks in top four at national district cheerleading championship.

Hawks Secondary School's cheerleading squad took first place last month in the AAA National District Cheerleading Championship.

Hayfield came in first with a score of 245; Falls Church came in second with a score of 239; Mount Vernon came in third with a score of 219 and Washington-Lee came in fourth with a score of 211.5.

Other schools competing included JEB Stuart, Edison, Wakefield and Yorktown.

Regional semi-finals were Saturday, Oct. 29 at Fairfax High School.  No teams from National District moved on to regional finals which is this Saturday, Nov. 5 at Fairfax.
