K9 Dog Bites Suspect Who Led Police on Chase: Police

DC man assaulted victims on Villa Street off of Franconia Road early Sunday morning, police said.

A D.C. man who resisted arrest and fled from police early Sunday in Franconia was bitten by a K9 police dog during his arrest, according to Fairfax County Police.

Police say that the suspect, Delonte A. Wright, 32, of DC was in the 6200 block of Villa Street, Sunday at about 12:35 a.m. when police say he assaulted two victims.

The incident started out when the two victims encountered Wright and a conversation escalated to an argument, police say. The suspect assaulted both victims and fled, according to police.

Responding officers located the suspect with the assistance of a K9 unit, FCPD reported.

The suspect incurred a bite from the K9 dog and was treated for a non-life-threatening injury. Wright was charged with malicious bodily injury, assault, resisting arrest, and obstruction of justice.
