Kingstowne Woman Wins Year Of Free Express Lane Travel
The Kingstowne woman won't have to pay for the Express Lanes for a year thanks to the grand prize.

KINGSTOWNE, VA—One lucky Kingstowne woman can avoid rush hour traffic and not have to pay. At least for a year.
Tammie B. of Kingstowne won the “Go the Billionth Mile” contest held by 495 and 95 Express Lanes operator Transurban. That gives her one year of toll-free travel on the 495 and 95 Express Lanes.
The operator held the contest in September to mark one billion miles traveled since the Lanes first opened in November 2012.

“I’m really ecstatic that I have this opportunity for a free year of commuting on the Express Lanes, it means so much to me,” said Tammie in a statement. “The Lanes provide me 20 more minutes of sanity and 20 less minutes of aggravation to have to deal with."
Tammie has lived in the area for 30 years and commutes to her job at a trade association in DC. Her typical trip on the Express Lanes takes her from the Franconia-Springfield Parkway to Interstate 395 near Duke Street.
