Lee High School Students Earn Recognition at Workshop

Seven Lee High School Students Participate in West Point Leadership Workshop

Seven (7) Robert E. Lee High School students from Springfield, VA, accompanied by Lee HS Career Specialist Carla McIlnay-Shaw, won recognition at the October 23, 2015 West Point Leadership, Ethics, and Diversity in STEM workshop.

Lee HS student Natalie Best won First Place and a $500 prize for an essay she wrote during one of the sessions. The Lee HS team led by Jacob Schaum and Alejandro Zuniga won First Place for ”Best Vignette” for their skit on ethics as it relates to character building in competent STEM leaders. Kraig Hamilton led his group to a Second Place finish.

Students grades 6 through 12 from all over the metropolitan area participated in competitions after attending day long sessions,led by West Point cadets, at the Columbia Heights Education Campus in D.C. Sessions included workshops on robotics & other practical STEM exercises.
