Man Assaults First Responder Helping Him Into Ambulance: Police

Fire and rescue had arrived in Springfield to help when the assault happened, police say.

SPRINGFIELD, VA—A man being taken to the hospital is accused of assaulting first responders in the process Saturday, Nov. 10 in Springfield.

Around 9:48 p.m., Fairfax County Police received a call about a man lying on the sidewalk at Loisdale Road and Loisdale Court. Officers called for rescue when they found the man.

When Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel were getting him into an ambulance, he allegedly punched one of them in the face. At the hospital, he punched an officer in the stomach.

Javier Sanchez, 28, of Fort Myer was charged with being drunk in public, assault on a law enforcement officer and assault on a lifesaver/rescue squad member. A mugshot is not available at this time.
