Man Dies Week After Springfield Crash Involving Bus

A Lorton man died in the hospital after his car hit a bus with no passengers, according to police.

SPRINGFIELD, VA — A man died Monday about a week after a collision with a bus in Springfield, according to Fairfax County Police.

The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 10 in the 7800 block of Loisdale Road. Investigations determined the driver was heading south on Loisdale Road when his Volkswagen Jetta collided with a southbound transportation bus.

The Volkswagen driver, Omar Prescott, 33, of Lorton, was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to the hospital, where he died of his injuries on Aug. 17. The bus driver was not injured, and there were no passengers on board.

Detectives believe speeding contributed to the crash but have not determined if alcohol or other factors were involved.
