Man Scores $115K Jackpot In Hayfield Area

FRANCONIA, VA — An Alexandria resident won big in the Virginia Lottery with a ticket bought in the Hayfield area.

Tedla Melaku bought a Cash 5 with EZ Match ticket at the 7-Eleven at 7720 Telegraph Road. The ticket for the June 26 drawing matched all five numbers, meaning he won a $115,002 jackpot. The winning numbers were 9-13-22-39-40.

Cash 5 with EZ Match has a rolling jackpot, starting at $100,000. If no one matches all five winning numbers, the jackpot increases for the next drawing. If a person spends an extra dollar for EZ Match, five randomly-generated numbers are provided, with a prize up to $500 for each number. If those numbers match any numbers on the drawing ticket, the person wins the extra prize.

The odds of matching all five numbers to win the Cash 5 jackpot are 1 in 749,398.
