New Restaurant Set to Open Wednesday at Springfield Town Center

A new restaurant is opening Wednesday at Springfield Town Center. Nando’s PERi PERi features flame-grilled chicken and quite an international following for those who love their PERi PERi hot sauce.

Springfield Town Center, I-95 and Franconia Road, just recently held a grand “reopening” Oct. 17 after closing for renovations.

The founders of Nando’s discovered their love for the chicken and sauce at a Portuguese restaurant in 1987 in South Africa and opened their first U.S. location in DC in 2008.

Springfield’s Nando’s will open at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Hours at the restaurant will be: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily (they’re open until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays).

Here’s what you’ll find on the menu:

Fresh chicken, marinated for 24 hours and basted with your choice of Plain...ish, Lemon & Herb, Mango & Lime, Medium, Hot or Extra Hot PERi-PERi sauce. Price includes one side, add a second for $2.

Chicken entrees start at $7.25 with one side; side dishes include:

• Fries
• Corn on the cob
• Portuguese Roll
• Garlic Bread
• Macho Peas
• Portuguese Rice
• Coleslaw
• Red Skin Mashed Potatoes
• Other sides include salads and other vegetables.

Other items on the menu include chicken sandwiches, six entree salads starting at 278 calories, three vegetarian entrees and a rib-eye steak sandwich. A kids’ menu features items for $5.25. Desserts include Chocolate Spoon Cake, Raspberry Brulee Cheesecake, Four High Carrot Cake, Dulce de Leche Cheesecake, Cupcake (Chocolate/Peanut Butter/Red Velvet), Bottomless Frozen Yogurt and something called Naughty Natas.

The restaurant will also serve beer and wine.

Nando’s also has location in Northern Virginia in Old Town Alexandria, Pentagon Row in Arlington, Ashburn, Gainesville and across the Potomac at National Harbor.

Other restaurants at Springfield Town Center include Maggianos and Chuy’s, an Austin-based chain which serves up Tex-Mex cuisine.
