One Springfield Restaurant On Best DC Area Dishes List
This Springfield restaurant has one of 2017's best dishes in the DC area, according to The Washington Post.

SPRINGFIELD, VA -- One Springfield restaurant made The Washington Post's "40 Most Essential DC Restaurant Dishes of 2017."
Afghan Bistro (8081 Alban Rd, Springfield) made this list for its chicken karahi. Nearby, two Alexandria and two Annandale restaurants also made the list.
The Post determined the top dishes by polling readers, industry insiders and its own staff. It received over 400 submissions and narrowed it down through a taste test. Staff explain, "We curated a selection that could cater to meat-eaters and vegetarians, sweets lovers and fried-food fans, suburban dwellers and urbanites without cars."

Afghan Bistro's dish is made with tender chicken thighs and roasted eggplant in a tomato sauce, yogurt-and-garlic puree, and Thai chili peppers, all served over rice and Afghan flatbread. The Post writes, "After being cooked in an aromatic tomato sauce, the eggplant is combined with the meat, which almost melts into the stew, then gets a hit of yogurt-and-garlic puree before serving."
