Pedestrian Struck And Killed In Kingstowne Crosswalk
BREAKING: Police say a pedestrian has died after a crash Thursday morning.

KINGSTOWNE, VA—A vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian Thursday morning in Kingstowne, according to Fairfax County Police.
The crash happened on Beulah Street at Kingstowne Commons Drive around 5:50 a.m. The pedestrian was attempting to cross Beulah Street in the crosswalk when a 2013 Toyota Corolla heading north struck him.
The victim, Herbert James Jr., 72, of Alexandria, was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead, police say.

Police are trying to determine if he used the crosswalk signal. Alcohol and drugs are likely not factors in the crash.
The driver remained on scene to cooperate with the investigation. The Commonwealth's Attorney will determine if charges will be placed after the investigation ends. Police continue to actively investigate.

Beulah Street was temporarily closed for the crash investigation. It reopened later in the morning.
