Police: Coffee Packet Thief Is On Loose

Detectives are investigating thefts at several local Starbucks.

The Fairfax County police are looking for a man who's been stealing packets of instant coffee from local Starbucks stores, according to a police report.

The thefts occurred from April 20 to May 23, and they're being investigated by detectives from the franconia District station, the police said. In each case, the suspect has entered the store and pretended to talk on his cell phone while hanging around.

"When store employees are distracted, he loads a bag with VIA (instant coffee) packets and then leaves the store," the police said in a statement.

The suspect is described as black, about 30 years old and 6 feet 1 inch tall. He has long dreadlocks and pock-marked skin, "typically carries a black duffel bag and has been seen leaving in a white Hyundai Tucson," the police said.
