Detectives released a photo of the suspect vehicle believed to have been involved in the fatal hit and run crash on Sunday, Nov. 1 in the 5600 block of Franconia Road.

Police are investigating the fatal pedestrian crash where the driver and vehicle fled the scene, according to police. Around 10:43 p.m. the pedestrian, Zahoor Ali Khan, 69, of the Alexandria area, was crossing Franconia Road, south to north, in the 5600 block. It appears he stopped in the unprotected median to wait for passing traffic when he was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound. The vehicle and its driver failed to stop, police said.
Khan was found in the travel lanes at the intersection of Franconia Road and Brookland Avenue and was pronounced dead at the scene.
