No Injuries After Electrical Fire Starts At Kingstowne House

Firefighters tackled a fire in the garage of a home Thursday afternoon.

KINGSTOWNE, VA — A Thursday house fire in Kingstowne was determined to have an electrical cause. There were no injuries.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue responded to the 7500 block of Cross Gate Lane around 3:34 p.m. Units found fire showing from the garage area of the single-family home and quickly extinguished it.

A resident had been home at the time and heard a loud bang in the garage. She found fire coming from the exterior garage door and called for help after evacuating.

Fire investigators determined the cause was an electrical event involving an extension cord. Two residents were briefly displaced and declined Red Cross assistance. Damages were estimated to be $95,000.
