Springfield Man Charged with Second Degree Murder
The victim, Mohammed Moshin Najim, 25, was an acquaintance of the suspect.

Police have charged Thomas R. Lienau, 53, of 8163 Curving Creek Court in Springfield with second degree murder.
Police charged Lienau at around 2 p.m., Friday, July 24.
The victim, Mohammed Moshin Najim, 25, was an acquaintance of the suspect. Detectives believe there had been in altercation in the home. Earlier that evening, the victim left, then came back to the home and was shot by the suspect.

Najim was killed Thursday, July 16. Police responded to the home at around 10 p.m. for a report of a disturbance. Upon police arrival to the home, officers discovered a man with an apparent gunshot wound to his lower extremities outside on the front stairs.
Upon further investigation, a person and weapon, believed to have been involved in the shooting, were located.

The victim was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and died.
The Office of the Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
