Springfield Man Turns Himself In For Robbery During Meetup

He called police when he saw a surveillance photo of himself and the other suspect at the scene in Annandale.

Two men have been charged in a video game robbery that went down during an online seller meetup in Annandale last week.

Police had released surveillance images of the two suspects after the Tuesday, April 3 robbery. Rodrigo Mercado Rifarace, 19, of Springfield, called police after seeing the photos appear on social media.

Investigations revealed Ariel Alvarado Camacho, 20, of Alexandria was also a suspect.

The seller had met up with the two suspects near Patriot and Heritage Drives around 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 3. The two suspects robbed the man of the video game, implying they were armed. The victim was not injured.
