Suspects in Violent Robbery Are On Loose: Police

The pair stole jewelry from a store in Springfield Plaza, say Fairfax County police.

The Fairfax County police are looking for a pair of suspects in a strong-armed robbery Monday morning at a Springfield jewelry shop.

The robbery occurred shortly after 10 a.m. at Sophia’s Jewelry Store at 6330 Springfield Plaza, according to a police statement. As the owner prepared his display cases, two men entered the business and appeared to browse, looking at the merchandise.

One suspect went behind the counter, displayed a knife, grabbed the victim and dragged him behind a wall. The second man removed jewelry from display cases, the police said.

The suspects fled on foot and the victim ran to an adjacent business for help. The store owner was treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, the police said.

The suspects were both described as Hispanic. One is about 6 feet tall. He was wearing black bib overalls and a gray, hooded sweatshirt, the police said. The second suspect was shorter. He was wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and dark gray pants.
