Car Hits Wall, Other Vehicle In Fatal Springfield Crash

SPRINGFIELD, VA—Authorities say one driver died and another injured in a two-car crash in Springfield Thursday around 12:30 p.m.

A driver traveling south on Loisdale Road when his car struck a wall, turned into the northbound lanes and crashed into another vehicle. The driver, James Jones, 73, of Manassas was pronounced dead at the hospital. The injured victim, a 66,-year-old woman from Lorton, is expected to be ok.

Detectives continue to investigate the cause of the crash. They do not believe speed or alcohol is involved but are investigating if Jones had a medical emergency.

The crash shut down Loisdale Road between Newington Road and Lois Drive for some time.
