Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from the front of the two-story home upon arrival. The Incident Commander struck a second alarm, bringing approximately 70 firefighters to the scene. Firefighters simultaneously searched the home and conducted an aggressive fire attack. During the primary search, firefighters discovered a deceased adult male on the first floor.

It took firefighters approximately 15 minutes to bring the fire under control. However, due to the heavy volume of fire and fire load inside the home, firefighters continued to put out hotspots and performed extensive salvage and overhaul operations. One adult female was flown to the Washington Hospital Burn Center with non-life threatening injuries and one adult male who attempted to rescue the two occupants was transported by ground to the Washington Burn Center with non-life threatening injuries. Smoke alarms were present and activated.
