Update: Money Raised for Anti-Muslim Crime Victims
UPDATE: A neighbor has helped raise over $16,000 in a burglary that involved an Anti-Muslim statement written on the wall.
(Updated at 2:10 p.m. Saturday) ALEXANDRIA, VA --A GoFundMe page for victims of an anti-Muslim crime reported March 27 has raised over $16,000.
According to the police report, a maintenance worker found the apartment at the 5900 block of Grand Pavilion Way in Huntington broken into and a vulgar anti-Muslim statement written on the wall.
The victims, Mahrukh and Shoaib Ahmad, reported that items were missing, including jewelry and estimated that the break in occurred between March 24 and 27. In addition their Quran was torn and Arabic paintings destroyed. Police have released pictures of some of the stolen jewelry. Other stolen items include the According to the GoFundMe page, the items stolen total over $25,000.

Rebecca Link, a neighbor of the Ahmads, started the GoFundMe page after the crime was reported.

All the valuables including jewelry, TV, passports, and a lot of other things were taken. Over $25,000. Worse still, their 2 young children had to be subjected to this kind of hate. There is no dollar amount that will ever heal those wounds. This is just one of the many horrible crimes that are being committed in the country but for those of us in Northern Virginia, it hits too close to home.
