Washing Machine Snafu Sparks Fire at Kingstowne Home: Fire Department
Four people were displaced from fire on Sunday that did nearly $100,000 damage.

Firefighters from Fairfax County Fire and Rescue responded to a garden apartment fire Sunday at approximately 12:15 p.m., in the Kingstowne area of Fairfax County. The garden apartment is located at 6023 Curtier Drive.
Firefighters encountered smoke and fire coming from the three-story apartment when they arrived on the scene. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack and quickly brought the fire under control, the department said. No one was home when the fire broke out.
Smoke alarms activated after the fire started, the department said. Four occupants have been displaced; however, declined Red Cross support, the fire department said. There were no injuries, the fire department noted.

Damage is estimated at $93,750, according to the fire department.
According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. An “electrical event” within the washing machine caused the fire, the fire department said.
