Woman Hit, Killed Standing At Mailbox In Kingstowne

BREAKING: Police say Tuesday's fatal Kingstowne car crash involved a woman getting hit by a truck at her mailbox.

KINGSTOWNE, VA—The fatal car crash in Kingstowne Tuesday afternoon involved a driver with a medical emergency accidently hitting a woman at her mailbox.

The accident happened around 2:45 p.m. in the 7000 block of Beulah Street near the Franconia/Springfield Parkway. Fairfax County Police say the pickup truck was traveling south on Beulah Street when a medical emergency potentially occurred. The driver swerved off the road but came back onto the street. The truck hit the victim before it stopped down the road.

Glenda Quiroz , 46, was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police do not believe speeding and alcohol factored into the accident. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call detectives on CRU witness phone line at 703-280-0543, call Fairfax County Police at 703-691-2131 or submit a tip online through Crime Solvers.
