A retired firefighter in Nokesville lost his home to a fire on Aug. 2, but fellow firefighters from throughout Northern Virginia have come to his aid, according to a media report.
On Aug. 2, a recreational vehicle (RV) owned by Mike Runnels, a retired Fairfax County fire captain, caught fire in his driveway, WJLA-TV Channel 7 reported. The blaze quickly spread to his garage and house, gutting the structures.

The four-bedroom home was declared a total loss, Channel 7 reported.
A fellow firefighter from Prince William County set up a GoFundMe page on the Web to help out Runnels, his wife Donna and their family. By Wednesday, it had raised more than $19,000.
