Kitchen Fire Damages Manassas Townhouse
Two adults, three children left homeless, says Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue.

A fire that broke out on a kitcen stove Thursday caused about $180,000 in damage to a Manassas townhouse, according to the Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue.
County fire and rescue units were dispatched at about 5 p.m. to the fire in the 11000 block of Hiram Court, the fire department said. All occupants safely evacuated the mid-row townhouse before it was fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters extinguished the fire before it spread to neighboring units, but a townhouse across from the primary unit sustained minor siding damage, the fire department said.

Three residents were home at the time of the fire., and one was treated for minor injuries. The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist two adults and three children displaced by the fire.
The fire department determined that the origin of the fire was the kitchen stove, and the cause was accidental. The county Fire Marshal’s Office estimated the property damage at $180,000, and a county building official posted the property as unsafe.
