MANASSAS SOROPTIMISTS TO CELEBRATE 60 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY

An Evening of Entertainment, Fundraising and Recognition Planned for May 14 at the Stonewall Golf Club in Gainesville

Soroptimist International of Manassas will host its annual fundraiser on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at 6:00 PM at the Stonewall Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia. This year’s fundraiser will highlight the club’s sixty years of providing services that improve the lives of women and girls in its local community.

The celebration will feature a comedy and magic show by Scott Alexander. Scott, an America’s Got Talent quarterfinalist, has also appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, headlined at Caesars Palace, and was featured on the Discovery, Showtime and SyFy channels. Attendees will enjoy dinner and can try their luck with a silent auction and raffle. Proceeds from the event will fund scholarships and grants for women and girls, and also help fund our local service projects.

SI Manassas president Cheryl Walter says, “Our major program, the Soroptimist Live Your Dream Award, is something of which we are very proud. It is a very unique grant in that it can be used where the funds are most needed, whether that is for books, childcare, or even transportation. We have been able to help many women since the award program started in 1972.”
