Pair of Would-Be Thieves Is Still At Large

They tried to rob city resident as he arrived home, say Manassas City Police.

Manassas police are searching for two unidentified men who assaulted a local man on Saturday night outside his home and tried to rob him.

On Tuesday, the city resident reported the incident to police, telling them that at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, two men walked up behind him as he was entering his residence in the 9600 block of Aspen Place and asked for money.

When the resident denied their request, one suspect struck the victim, knocking him to the ground, according to a police report. The first suspect continued to assault him while the second went through his pockets.

But no money or valuables were stolen, said Manassas police, who are investigating the incident.

The first suspect is described by police as a medium-skinned, heavyset Hispanic male, about 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall, wearing a black long-sleeved shirt with a red vest and light blue jeans.

The second suspect is a thin black male with a dark complexion, about 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall, wearing black pants and a black shirt, police said.
