Police: Robber Tied Up Hotel Clerk, Fled with Money
The clerk freed herself early Tuesday and called the Prince William County police.

In the wee hours of Tuesday, an armed robber walked into a Manassas-area hotel, brandished his gun at the night clerk and tied her up before fleeing with money, according to the Prince William County police.
But the clerk, a 32-year-old Manassas woman, was able to untie her hands and call the police. No injuries were reported in the robbery, but the suspect remains at large.

The police describe the suspect as a man of unknown race, between 30 and 35 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 250 pounds with a heavy build, a medium complexion and black hair. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, dark-colored jacket, a black wool cap, gloves, gray boots and sunglasses.
Police officers responded at 1:50 a.m. Tuesday to the Candlewood Suites at 11220 Balls Ford Road, according to a police report. The clerk told them that an unknown man had entered the hotel and approached the front desk.

After a short conversation, the man displayed a handgun and demanded money, the police said. He forced the woman into a rear room, where he tied her hands.
The suspect then fled the hotel on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, and the clerk untied her hands and contacted the police. They searched the area with a helicopter and a K-9 unit (an officer and a trained dog), but they could not find the suspect.
