Do you know what’s in your drinking water? While public water supplies are tested daily for contaminants, most private water supplies, like wells and springs, are rarely tested. It is recommended that well owners test their water at least annually for bacteria, nitrates. Regular well testing allows you detect and fix problems early. Basic well testing can cost over $250, but through the Virginia Household Water Quality Program (VHWQP) an array of tests only costs $55.

The goal of VHWQP is to improve the water quality of private water supplies by offering low cost water sampling and information about possible treatment options.

The kick-off meeting introduces water quality concerns in our area; kits will be provided. The interpretation meeting will explain the report, include a discussion and answer questions on dealing with water problems. For more information on this statewide program go to www.wellwater.bse.vt.edu/index.php

How much does it cost? $55. NO CASH PLEASE - CHECKS OR MONEY ORDERS ONLY! Fee will be collected at the KICK OFF MEETING 3/28/16.
