Weichert, Realtors' Front Royal Office To Participate In The 2nd Annual Waggin' For Dragons Event

Rita Rutledge, manager of the Weichert, Realtors Front Royal office, is pleased to announce that members of her office will be participating in the upcoming 2nd Annual Waggin’ for Dragons Event on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the North Fork of the Shenandoah River to benefit the Humane Society of Warren County.

The event, organized by the Humane Society of Warren County, will begin at 8:45AM with an opening ceremony and include a day full of dragon boat races, accompanied by games between the races, and food, which will be available for sale on-site. A closing ceremony will follow the conclusion of the races at the Front Royal Country Club.

With origins dating back 2,300 years, dragon boat racing is a fun, unique cultural event featuring adrenaline-pumping action. Hong Kong style dragon boats are 46-feet-long, with 10 seats and 20 people. A drum seat arranged above the first two paddlers (seated beside each other) holds a drummer. A provided steerer guides the boat with the steering oar in the back. These 22 people make up a dragon boat team and each paddler plays a very important, specific role.
