Armed Robber Tracked by Police Thanks to GPS Ankle Bracelet
The robber, John Hudspeth, had been issued the bracelet following previous attempted robberies, making him easy to track this time around.

Last week, Patch reported a 32-year-old Leesburg resident named John Hudspeth was arrested by Fairfax County Police for robbing a McLean resident at gunpoint at an ATM in the McLean-Tysons Corner area.
This week, NBC4 Washington reported that Hudspeth was easy to track following the robbery because he was actually wearing a GPS ankle bracelet issued by Prince William County due to charges related to two more armed robberies.
Authorities merely tracked Hudspeth’s location following the most recent robbery using the GPS technology in the ankle bracelet, then swiftly apprehended him. NBC4 reported Hudspeth’s bond was revoked, which left him back in jail.

“It’s very concerning,” Prince William County Commonwealth’s Attorney Paul Ebert told NBC4. “The purpose of the monitor is to prevent something like this from happening, but obviously it didn’t work in this case.”
Local CBS affiliate WUSA reported in June 2013 that Hudspeth was arrested for two armed robberies in the Woodbridge and Dumfries areas. Those arrests contributed to Hudspeth’s required ankle bracelet, which ultimately was his own undoing in his most recent attempt at armed robbery.
