FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Students had originally been scheduled to return from winter break on Monday, Jan. 3, but winter weather has pushed that return until next week at Fairfax County Public Schools. School is canceled for the fifth straight day on Friday, FCPS announced.

The decision was made due to inclement weather in the forecast in Fairfax County Thursday night into Friday morning. The cancellations over the last four days have related to hazardous conditions continuing from Monday's winter storm.

Canceled activities at FCPS include extracurricular activities, interscholastic contests, team practices, field trips, middle school after-school programs, professional learning and training courses, Adult High School and GED, and recreation programs and community use by outside groups.
