Fraudsters Caught With $9.5K In Stolen Cash At Tysons

Police say the men used another person's bank account and fake information to buy high-end items.

TYSONS, VA—Fairfax County Police caught two fraudsters attempting to use another person's bank account and fake credit cards to make expensive purchases in Tysons.

The Tysons Urban Team received a tip from a store employee that suspected fraud. The men had attempted to make a purchase and the card was declined. Investigations revealed the men were using fake identifications, fraudulent credit cards and funds from the bank account.

Undercover officers stopped the men's car when they attempted to leave the parking lot. A search revealed the merchandise was inside, as well as $9,500 in cash inside their pockets taken out of the fraud victim's bank account.

Both men were arrested on site. Justin Powell, 29, of Baltimore, was charged with five felonies and two misdemeanors. Donshey Blackwell, 30, of Gwynn Oak, was charged with two felonies, and a misdemeanor.
