Local High School Senior to Play Lacrosse for U.S. Coast Guard Academy
Etta Davis of Great Falls, a senior at Oakcrest School in McLean, will be playing Division III lacrosse for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

Local high school student Etta Davis of Great Falls, a senior at Oakcrest School in McLean, will be playing Division III lacrosse for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT.
Etta is a star student-athlete at Oakcrest. In addition to being a founding player of the LAX team, Etta played one year of Varsity Volleyball, two years of Varsity Cross Country, and four years of Varsity Basketball, leading her team to the Potomac Valley Athletic Conference (PVAC) finals.
Oakcrest hosted an official signing ceremony in the school's chapel on March 6, 2017. The ceremony was attended by the entire student body, Etta's parents, her brother, and the school's mascot - Charlie the Charger.

“As a founding and cornerstone member of Oakcrest Lacrosse, Etta has been an integral part of our team since its inception,” said Michele Bulger, Oakcrest Registrar and Lacrosse Coach. “Her love and enthusiasm for the sport is infectious and inspiring. It’s been a privilege to watch Etta play, achieve, and excel in Lacrosse, and moreover, to witness her growth in character and leadership.”
Oakcrest has a long history of competitive play in the Washington, D.C. area. Its teams are perennially at the top of the PVAC, having won over 50 banners. In 2010, 2011 and 2016, Oakcrest was recognized with the PVAC Director’s Cup having scored the most points across all varsity athletic programs in the league.

In the fall of 2017, Oakcrest will open the doors to its permanent campus in Vienna, Virginia. Construction is nearly complete at the 23-acre site, which can be seen off of the Dulles Toll Road Hunter Mill exit. Oakcrest student-athletes will have their very own home athletic fields for lacrosse, soccer, and softball. A multipurpose gym and tennis courts will be built in phase II of the construction.
