Republicans to Choose Nominee for Comstock's Virginia Assembly Seat

Republicans have two candidates vying for nomination in special election to 34th House District seat. Canvass is Saturday in Vienna.

In the wake of the election of Barbara Comstock to Congress last week, Virginia Speaker of the House Bill Howell has issued a “Writ of Election” setting Jan. 6, 2015, as the date of a special election for her 34th House District seat.

In accordance with an Official Call issued by the Republican Legislative District Committee for the 34th House District, a party canvass will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15, to select the Republican nominee.

Two candidates, Allen Johnson and Craig Parisot, have met the filing requirements to seek the Republican nomination at the canvass. All registered voters who reside in the 34th House District may participate in the party canvass on Saturday.

The canvass will take place at Colvin Run Elementary School, 1400 Trap Road, Vienna, Virginia, 22182. Voting will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
