Virginia 'Stay At Home' Order Issued, Coronavirus Cases Top 1K
Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam issued a "stay-at-home" order Monday as cases of the new coronavirus topped 1,000. The stay-at-home order calls for residents to stay home except to obtain food and other essential services, obtain medical care, travel to and from work, take care of other persons or care for animals, visit a relative, travel to and from an educational institution, volunteer with a group providing charitable or social services, or exercise outdoors with social distancing.

Total Coronavirus Cases In DC Could Reach 93,000
The total number of District residents who may become infected by the new coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, could reach 93,000 over the course of the pandemic, based on data modeling used by D.C. health officials. In addition, the surge in COVID-19 patients at city hospitals is expected to peak at the end of June and beginning of July.

President Donald Trump on Thursday approved Gov. Ralph Northam's request to declare a major disaster in Virginia, which frees up federal resources to fight the state's growing coronavirus outbreak.
Field Hospital Set Up In Fredericksburg For Coronavirus Surge
Mary Washington Hospital has set up a field hospital in a parking garage next to the hospital's emergency department in anticipation of a surge in patients with the new coronavirus, or COVID-19. Although hospital officials hope the extra space won't be needed, they wanted to create the additional emergency room capacity in case the number of coronavirus patients reaches levels beyond its current capacity in the next couple months.
VA Residents Should Wear Face Masks: Gov. Northam, CDC
Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam on Friday urged all residents to wear a cloth mask if they must leave their home. The measure is recommended as the state confirmed 2,012 cases of the new coronavirus and 46 deaths.

DC Health To Open Walk-Up Coronavirus Testing Facilities
The D.C. Department of Health will be opening a coronavirus testing site for the city's public safety personnel, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced at a Monday morning press briefing. The site would test members of the Metropolitan Police Department, D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services and the D.C. Department of Corrections.
