Land Purchased For Proposed Tallest Building In The Region
Developers secured their first piece of land for a proposed Tysons project that includes a new 48-story building, which would be the tallest in the DC region.

Armed Security Proposal Voted Down By Fairfax School Board
Fairfax County school board members voted against having a discussion on full-time armed security at schools. Board member Elizabeth Schultz of Springfield introduced the proposal at Thursday's school board meeting. The school board did pass resolution calling for stricter gun control at the state and national level.
I-66 Tolls In Opposite Direction Proposed By State Lawmakers
As state lawmakers consider options to tackle the high tolls on Interstate 66, one proposal suggests commuters going in the opposite direction during rush hour should pay them. This means commuters heading westbound during the morning toll hours and eastbound during the evening toll hours would pay tolls as well.
MITRE To Expand With New High Rises In Tysons
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors granted the MITRE Corporation permission to expand its Tysons campus, which includes four new nine-story buildings, a parking garage and a development plan for a future 15-story building. But residents in a bordering neighborhood are concerned about the impacts of traffic and the high rises.

A 71-year-old McLean woman fighting cancer was among the victims of a $5 million fraud scheme leading to an arrest Thursday. The arrested woman is accused of duping victims out of money to spend millions on luxury purchases and travel.
Request To Release 911 Call Before Park Police Shooting Denied
The family of Park Police shooting victim Bijan Ghaisar is demanding Arlington County release the original 911 call that led to the the chase and two officers opening fire on Ghaisar in November. The county's dispatch system, which took the 911 call for the hit-and-run Ghaisar was involved in, denied a Freedom of Information Act request from the family's attorneys.

McLean/Tysons area is well represented on the "Best Workplace for Commuters in 2018" list, thanks to its four Metro stations and abundant commuter-friendly programs for employees Three sites and nine workplaces are among 225 nationwide that made the list.
