Coach's Corner: Mount Vernon Versus Centreville

The Majors face the Wildcats in an away game on Friday.

It's almost time for Friday night football! Patch caught up with football coach Barry Wells to get his perspective of tonight's game versus Centreville High School.

The Majors won last week's game against Marshall High School and are aiming to keep with that trend. Wells told Patch the Majors will do some things spectators won't expect during Friday night's game.

"We’re the underdog and that’s not a bad place to be," Wells said. "I think we have a game plan that has an opportunity to be effective, and I hope the kids embrace it and play well."

Wells has a lot of respect for Centreville football coach Chris Haddock and the way he coaches and primes his players for games.

“When I grow up I want my program to be like his,” Wells said. "While he’s probably not as strong as he has been over the last couple years, his team is well disciplined and that takes them a long way.”
